Visit from Metropolitan Nicholas of the Georgian Apostolic Orthodox Church on August 6
Transfiguration Sunday, August 6
It is official! The Metropolitan of Akhalkalaki and Kumurdo (Georgian Orthodox Church), Nikoloz, who is also Mariam’s father, will be joining us on Sunday, August 6, and will celebrate the Liturgy. He will be accompanied by Bishop Saba, the Georgian Bishop for the North American Diocese of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Arrangements and details are still forthcoming, but this will make for a very exciting and memorable visit for our parish feast day! We will welcome the opportunity to have these wonderful chief Shepherds of Christ’s Church, from one of the oldest lands to accept Christianity. The Georgian Church had bishops by the time of the First Ecumenical Council in 325 AD.
Plan to be here for this occasion, and keep checking in for more details.
