Rev. Fr. Martin (Marty) Watt

Biography:
Fr. Marty is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and grew up in Jackson, Tennessee, and Calhoun, Georgia, graduating from Jackson North Side High School in 1982. He attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, graduating with a BBA in Accounting in 1986. The following year, he and Candice (nee Eaves), his high school sweetheart, were wed.
Raised in the United Methodist and Southern Baptist traditions, Fr. Marty and Matushka Candy converted to the Orthodox Church in 1994 at St. John the Evangelist Orthodox Church (Antiochian) in Memphis, Tennessee, under Fr. John Troy Mashburn.
A move to Ohio in 2001 prompted the move to the Orthodox Church in America, joining St. Paul the Evangelist Orthodox Christian Church (Diocese of the Midwest) and Fr. Theodore Bobosh. He was ordained a subdeacon in 2006, and a Deacon in 2008.
In 2010, after 25 years as an Accountant and Healthcare Executive, Fr. Marty enrolled at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, August 6, 2012, and graduated with his Masters of Divinity in May of 2013. Prior to graduation, Fr. Marty served several parishes in the OCA Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania.
Fr. Marty and Matushka Candy have a daughter, Sarah, her husband Fr. Patrick (Henre), and their children, Sampson and Esther, and a son, Jonathan.
